Onsettingoutfromthispoint,adifficultcountry,exigenciesofthenatives,attacksfromthetribes,revoltofhiscompanions,threatsofdeath,everythingconspiredagainstLivingstone,andalessenergeticmanwouldhaveabandonedtheparty.Thedoctorpersevered,andonthe4thofApril,hereachedthebanksoftheCoango,alargewatercoursewhichformstheeasternboundaryofthePortuguesepossessions,andflowsnorthwardintotheZaire.
