           “Everyboy,”hesaid,“hasalittlesweetheart.”

           Hisattitudeonthispointstruckmeasstrangelyliberalinamanofhisage.InmyheartIthoughtthatwhathesaidaboutboysandsweetheartswasreasonable.ButIdislikedthewordsinhismouthandIwonderedwhyheshiveredonceortwiceasifhefearedsomethingorfeltasuddenchill.AsheproceededInoticedthathisaccentwasgood.Hebegantospeaktousaboutgirls,sayingwhatnicesofthairtheyhadandhowsofttheirhandswereandhowallgirlswerenotsogoodastheyseemedtobeifoneonlyknew.Therewasnothingheliked,hesaid,somuchaslookingataniceyounggirl,athernicewhitehandsandherbeautifulsofthair.
