           IreallythoughtitwasalloverwithMr.Omer,afterhehadutteredthislibellouspleasantry.Hecoughedtothatextent,andhisbreatheludedallhisattemptstorecoveritwiththatobstinacy,thatIfullyexpectedtoseehisheadgodownbehindthecounter,andhislittleblackbreeches,withtherustylittlebunchesofribbonsattheknees,comequiveringupinalastineffectualstruggle.Atlength,however,hegotbetter,thoughhestillpantedhard,andwassoexhaustedthathewasobligedtositonthestooloftheshop-desk.
