           ‘Perhapsshefellinlovewithhersecondhusband,’Mr.Dicksuggested.

           ‘Fellinlove!’repeatedmyaunt.‘Whatdoyoumean?Whatbusinesshadshetodoit?’

           ‘Perhaps,’Mr.Dicksimpered,afterthinkingalittle,‘shediditforpleasure.’

           ‘Pleasure,indeed!’repliedmyaunt.‘AmightypleasureforthepoorBabytofixhersimplefaithuponanydogofafellow,certaintoill-useherinsomewayorother.Whatdidsheproposetoherself,Ishouldliketoknow!Shehadhadonehusband.ShehadseenDavidCopperfieldoutoftheworld,whowasalwaysrunningafterwaxdollsfromhiscradle.Shehadgotababyoh,therewereapairofbabieswhenshegavebirthtothischildsittinghere,thatFridaynight!andwhatmoredidshewant?’
