           “Well,butsincewehavetoucheduponthisbusiness,andforthelasttimeIhope,”continuedthedoctor,“thereisonepointIshouldlikeyoutounderstand. IhavereallyaverygreatinterestinpoorHyde. Iknowyouhaveseenhim;hetoldmeso;andIfearhewasrude. But,Idosincerelytakeagreat,averygreatinterestinthatyoungman;andifIamtakenaway,Utterson,Iwishyoutopromisemethatyouwillbearwithhimandgethisrightsforhim. Ithinkyouwould,ifyouknewall;anditwouldbeaweightoffmymindifyouwouldpromise.” 

           “Ican’tpretendthatIshalleverlikehim,”saidthelawyer. 

           “Idon’taskthat,”pleadedJekyll,layinghishandupontheother’sarm; “Ionlyaskforjustice;Ionlyaskyoutohelphimformysake,whenIamnolongerhere.”
