Theinhabitantswerealldoingwell,itseemed,andallemulouslyhopingtodobetterstill,andlayingoutthesurplusoftheirgainsincoquetry; sothattheshopfrontsstoodalongthatthoroughfarewithanairofinvitation,likerowsofsmilingsaleswomen.
