           AndSnow-whitewaswilling,andwentwithhim,andtheirweddingwasheldwithgreatshowandsplendour. ButSnow-white’swickedstep-motherwasalsobiddentothefeast.WhenshehadarrayedherselfinbeautifulclothesshewentbeforetheLooking-glass,andsaid— 

           "Looking-glass,Looking-glass,onthewall,Whointhislandisthefairestofall?" 

           theglassanswered— 

           "Oh,Queen,ofallherethefairestartthou,ButtheyoungQueenisfairerbyfarasItrow." 

           Thenthewickedwomanutteredacurse,andwassowretched,soutterlywretched,thatsheknewnotwhattodo. Atfirstshewouldnotgototheweddingatall,butshehadnopeace,andmustgotoseetheyoungQueen.AndwhenshewentinsheknewSnow-white;andshestoodstillwithrageandfear,andcouldnotstir. Butironslippershadalreadybeenputuponthefire,andtheywerebroughtinwithtongs,andsetbeforeher. Thenshewasforcedtoputonthered-hotshoes,anddanceuntilshedroppeddowndead.
