           Theysaid,"Wecouldnotburyherinthedarkground,"andtheyhadatransparentcoffinofglassmade,sothatshecouldbeseenfromallsides,andtheylaidherinit,andwrotehernameuponitingoldenletters,andthatshewasaking’sdaughter. Thentheyputthecoffinoutuponthemountain,andoneofthemalwaysstayedbyitandwatchedit.Andbirdscametoo,andweptforSnow-white;firstanowl,thenaraven,andlastadove. 

           AndnowSnow-whitelayalong,longtimeinthecoffin,andshedidnotchange,butlookedasifshewereasleep;forshewasaswhiteassnow,asredasblood,andherhairwasasblackasebony. 

           Ithappened,however,thataking’ssoncameintotheforest,andwenttothedwarfs’housetospendthenight.Hesawthecoffinonthemountain,andthebeautifulSnow-whitewithinit,andreadwhatwaswrittenuponitingoldenletters. Thenhesaidtothedwarfs,"Letmehavethecoffin,Iwillgiveyouwhateveryouwantforit." Butthedwarfsanswered,"Wewillnotpartwithitforallthegoldintheworld."Thenhesaid,"Letmehaveitasagift,forIcannotlivewithoutseeingSnow-white.Iwillhonourandprizeherasmydearestpossession." Ashespokeinthiswaythegooddwarfstookpityuponhim,andgavehimthecoffin. 

           AndnowtheKing’ssonhaditcarriedawaybyhisservantsontheirshoulders.Andithappenedthattheystumbledoveratree-stump,andwiththeshockthepoisonouspieceofapplewhichSnow-whitehadbittenoffcameoutofherthroat
