           Atthesightofthatbag,Pinocchiofeltslightlyhappierandthoughttohimself: 

           "MyfriendmustbesufferingfromthesamesicknessthatIam!Iwonderifhe,too,hasdonkeyfever?" 

           Butpretendinghehadseennothing,heaskedwithasmile: 

           "Howareyou,mydearLamp-Wick?" 

           "Verywell.LikeamouseinaParmesancheese." 

           "Isthatreallytrue?" 

           "WhyshouldIlietoyou?" 

           "Ibegyourpardon,myfriend,butwhythenareyouwearingthatcottonbagoveryourears?" 

           "Thedoctorhasordereditbecauseoneofmykneeshurts.Andyou,dearMarionette,whyareyouwearingthatcottonbagdowntoyournose?"
