           Theusualformshavingbeengonethrough,thebodyofSamuelPickwickwassoonafterwardsconfidedtothecustodyofthetipstaff,tobebyhimtakentothewardenoftheFleetPrison,andtheredetaineduntiltheamountofthedamagesandcostsintheactionofBardellagainstPickwickwasfullypaidandsatisfied.

           ‘Ishallgowithyou,andseeyousafethere,’saidPerker.

           ‘Indeed,’repliedMr.Pickwick,‘IwouldrathergowithoutanyotherattendantthanSam.AssoonasIgetsettled,Iwillwriteandletyouknow,andIshallexpectyouimmediately.Untilthen,good-bye.’

           AsMr.Pickwicksaidthis,hegotintothecoachwhichhadbythistimearrived,followedbythetipstaff.Samhavingstationedhimselfonthebox,itrolledaway.
