Thedismalmanreadilycomplied;acirclewasagainformedroundthetable,andharmonyoncemoreprevailed.Somelingeringirritabilityappearedtofindaresting-placeinMr.Winkle’sbosom,occasionedpossiblybythetemporaryabstractionofhiscoat—thoughitisscarcelyreasonabletosupposethatsoslightacircumstancecanhaveexcitedevenapassingfeelingofangerinaPickwickian’sbreast.Withthisexception,theirgood-humourwascompletelyrestored;andtheeveningconcludedwiththeconvivialitywithwhichithadbegun.
