           Thefewwhoyetsurvivedthem,kneeledbytheirtomb,andwateredthegreenturfwhichcovereditwiththeirtears;thenrose,andturnedaway,sadlyandmournfully,butnotwithbittercries,ordespairinglamentations,fortheyknewthattheyshouldonedaymeetagain;andoncemoretheymixedwiththebusyworld,andtheircontentandcheerfulnesswererestored.Thecloudsettleduponthepicture,andconcealeditfromthesexton’sview.

           ‘"WhatdoyouthinkofTHAT?"saidthegoblin,turninghislargefacetowardsGabrielGrub.

           ‘Gabrielmurmuredoutsomethingaboutitsbeingverypretty,andlookedsomewhatashamed,asthegoblinbenthisfieryeyesuponhim.

           ‘"Youmiserableman!"saidthegoblin,inatoneofexcessivecontempt."You!"Heappeareddisposedtoaddmore,butindignationchokedhisutterance,sohelifteduponeofhisverypliablelegs,and,flourishingitabovehisheadalittle,toinsurehisaim,administeredagoodsoundkicktoGabrielGrub;immediatelyafterwhich,allthegoblinsinwaitingcrowdedroundthewretchedsexton,andkickedhimwithoutmercy,accordingtotheestablishedandinvariablecustomofcourtiersuponearth,whokickwhomroyaltykicks,andhugwhomroyaltyhugs.

           ‘"Showhimsomemore!"saidthekingofthegoblins.

           ‘Atthesewords,thecloudwasdispelled,andarichandbeautifullandscapewasdisclosedtoviewthereisjustsuchanother,tothisday,withinhalfamileoftheoldabbeytown.
