‘Verywell,mother,hewas,ifyoulike,’saidWardlelaughing.‘HeWAScarriedawaybygoblins,Pickwick;andthere’sanendofthematter.’
‘No,no,’saidMr.Pickwick,‘notanendofit,Iassureyou;forImusthearhow,andwhy,andallaboutit.’
Wardlesmiled,aseveryheadwasbentforwardtohear,andfillingoutthewassailwithnostintedhand,noddedahealthtoMr.Pickwick,andbeganasfollows—
