           ‘Ifheevercomesback,I’llpoisonhim,’thoughtMr.Pott,asheturnedintothelittlebackofficewherehepreparedhisthunderbolts.

           ‘IfIeverdocomeback,andmixmyselfupwiththesepeopleagain,‘thoughtMr.Winkle,ashewendedhiswaytothePeacock,‘Ishalldeservetobehorsewhippedmyselfthat’sall.’

           Hisfriendswereready,thecoachwasnearlyso,andinhalfanhourtheywereproceedingontheirjourney,alongtheroadoverwhichMr.PickwickandSamhadsorecentlytravelled,andofwhich,aswehavealreadysaidsomething,wedonotfeelcalledupontoextractMr.Snodgrass’spoeticalandbeautifuldescription.
