           ‘Notwery,’repliedSam.

           ‘Mrs.Pellwasatallfigure,’saidPell,‘asplendidwoman,withanobleshape,andanose,gentlemen,formedtocommandandbemajestic.Shewasverymuchattachedtomeverymuchhighlyconnected,too.Hermother’sbrother,gentlemen,failedforeighthundredpounds,asalawstationer.’

           ‘Vell,’saidMr.Weller,whohadgrownratherrestlessduringthisdiscussion,‘vithregardtobis’ness.’

           ThewordwasmusictoPell’sears.Hehadbeenrevolvinginhismindwhetheranybusinesswastobetransacted,orwhetherhehadbeenmerelyinvitedtopartakeofaglassofbrandy-and-water,orabowlofpunch,oranysimilarprofessionalcompliment,andnowthedoubtwassetatrestwithouthisappearingatalleagerforitssolution.
