           ‘Openthewindow,’saidthesickman.

           Hedidso.Thenoiseofcarriagesandcarts,therattleofwheels,thecriesofmenandboys,allthebusysoundsofamightymultitudeinstinctwithlifeandoccupation,blendedintoonedeepmurmur,floatedintotheroom.
