           Oneday,aboutamonthafterGregor’stransformationwhenhissisternolongerhadanyparticularreasontobeshockedathisappearance,shecameintotheroomalittleearlierthanusualandfoundhimstillstaringoutthewindow,motionless,andjustwherehewouldbemosthorrible.Initself,hissister’snotcomingintotheroomwouldhavebeennosurpriseforGregorasitwouldhavebeendifficultforhertoimmediatelyopenthewindowwhilehewasstillthere,butnotonlydidshenotcomein,shewentstraightbackandclosedthedoorbehindher,astrangerwouldhavethoughthehadthreatenedherandtriedtobiteher.Gregorwentstraighttohidehimselfunderthecouch,ofcourse,buthehadtowaituntilmiddaybeforehissistercamebackandsheseemedmuchmoreuneasythanusual.Itmadehimrealisethatshestillfoundhisappearanceunbearableandwouldcontinuetodoso,sheprobablyevenhadtoovercometheurgetofleewhenshesawthelittlebitofhimthatprotrudedfromunderthecouch.
