Theyexpectedtoseejustoneortwopeople,theendoftheprocessionofpassengerswhohadgivenuptheirticketsandgoneaway.Instead,theplatformroundthedoorofthestationhadadarkblotroundit,andthedarkblotwasacrowdofpeople.
"Oh!"criedPeter,withathrillofjoyousexcitement,"something’shappened!Comeon!"
Theyrandowntheplatform.Whentheygottothecrowd,theycould,ofcourse,seenothingbutthedampbacksandelbowsofthepeopleonthecrowd’soutside.Everybodywastalkingatonce.Itwasevidentthatsomethinghadhappened.
