Uponthisthewolvesturnedtail,andwesalliedimmediatelyuponneartwentylameones,whomwefoundstrugglingontheground,andfella-cuttingthemwithourswords,whichansweredourexpectation; forthecryingandhowlingtheymadewasbetterunderstoodbytheirfellows,sothattheyallfledandleftus.
Wehad,firstandlast,killedaboutthreescoreofthem,andhaditbeendaylightwehadkilledmanymore. Thefieldofbattlebeingthuscleared,wemadeforwardagain,forwehadstillnearaleaguetogo. Weheardtheravenouscreatureshowlandyellinthewoodsaswewentseveraltimes,andsometimeswefanciedwesawsomeofthem,butthesnowdazzlingoureyes,wewerenotcertain.
