Itseemstheyhadsuchdreadfulapprehensionsuponthemofthedangeroftheplacethattheyresolvedtogoonboardtheshipagain,givetheircompanionsoverforlost,andsogoonwiththeirintendedvoyagewiththeship.
AssoonasIperceivedthemgotowardstheshore,Iimaginedittobe,asitreallywas,thattheyhadgivenovertheirsearch,andwereforgoingbackagain;andthecaptain,assoonasItoldhimmythoughts,wasreadytosinkattheapprehensionsofit; butIpresentlythoughtofastratagemtofetchthembackagain,andwhichansweredmyendtoatittle.
IorderedFridayandthecaptain’smatetogooverthelittlecreekwestward,towardstheplacewherethesavagescameonshorewhenFridaywasrescued,andassoonastheycametoalittlerisingground,atabouthalfamiledistance. Ibadethemhallooasloudastheycould,andwaittilltheyfoundtheseamenheardthem; thatassoonasevertheyheardtheseamenanswerthem,theyshouldreturnitagain;andthenkeepingoutofsight,takearound,alwaysansweringwhentheotherhallooed,todrawthemasfarintotheisland,andamongthewoods,aspossible,andthenwheelaboutagaintomebysuchwaysasIdirectedthem.
