           Afterthishepressedmeearnestly,andinthemostaffectionatemanner,nottoplaytheyoungman, nortoprecipitatemyselfintomiserieswhichnature,andthestationoflifeIwasbornin, seemedtohaveprovidedagainst; thatIwasundernonecessityofseekingmybread; thathewoulddowellforme,andendeavourtoentermefairlyintothestationoflifewhichhehadjustbeenrecommendingtome; andthatifIwasnotveryeasyandhappyintheworld,itmustbemymerefateorfaultthatmusthinderit; andthatheshouldhavenothingtoanswerfor,havingthusdischargedhisdutyinwarningmeagainstmeasureswhichheknewwouldbetomyhurt; inaword,thatashewoulddoverykindthingsformeifIwouldstayandsettleathomeashedirected, sohewouldnothavesomuchhandinmymisfortunesastogivemeanyencouragementtogoaway;
