           Sosaying,thehonest,butimplacablescout,madethecircuitofthedead,intowhosesenselessbosomshethrusthislongknife,withasmuchcoolnessasthoughtheyhadbeensomanybrutecarcasses.Hehad,however,beenanticipatedbytheelderMohican,whohadalreadytorntheemblemsofvictoryfromtheunresistingheadsoftheslain.
