TherearealsonumbersofthemalongtheBabyWalk,whichisafamousgentleplace,asspotsfrequentedbyfairiesarecalled.Oncetwenty-fourofthemhadanextraordinaryadventure.Theywereagirls’schooloutforawalkwiththegoverness,andallwearinghyacinthgowns,whenshesuddenlyputherfingertohermouth,andthentheyallstoodstillonanemptybedandpretendedtobehyacinths.Unfortunatelywhatthegovernesshadheardwastwogardenerscomingtoplantnewflowersinthatverybed.Theywerewheelingahand-cartwiththeflowersinit,andwerequitesurprisedtofindthebedoccupied.’Pitytoliftthemhyacinths,’saidtheoneman.’Duke’sorders,’repliedtheother,and,havingemptiedthecart,theyduguptheboardingschoolandputthepoor,terrifiedthingsinitinfiverows.Ofcourse,neitherthegovernessnorthegirlsdareletonthattheywerefairies,sotheywerecartedfarawaytoapotting-shed,outofwhichtheyescapedinthenightwithouttheirshoes,buttherewasagreatrowaboutitamongtheparents,andtheschoolwasruined.
