ItoldherthatsinceIhadseenherIwasinnohurrytoleaveit,andthatifshereallywantedmetogo,theonlywaytoworkitwasforhertoarrangetogowithme. WiththatIofferedinasmanywordstomarryher,butbeforeshecouldanswer,downcamethisbrotherofhers,runningatuswithafaceonhimlikeamadman. Hewasjustwhitewithrage,andthoselighteyesofhiswereblazingwithfury. WhatwasIdoingwiththelady? HowdaredIofferherattentionswhichweredistastefultoher? DidIthinkthatbecauseIwasabaronetIcoulddowhatIliked? IfhehadnotbeenherbrotherIshouldhaveknownbetterhowtoanswerhim. AsitwasItoldhimthatmyfeelingstowardshissisterweresuchasIwasnotashamedof,andthatIhopedthatshemighthonourmebybecomingmywife.
