Withascreamofpain,thebruteseizedthepoorZulu,hurledhimtotheearth,andplacingonehugefootontohisbodyaboutthemiddle,twineditstrunkroundhisupperpartandtorehimintwo.
Werushedupmadwithhorror,andfiredagainandagain,tillpresentlytheelephantfelluponthefragmentsoftheZulu.
AsforGood,heroseandwrunghishandsoverthebravemanwhohadgivenhislifetosavehim, and,thoughIamanoldhand,Ifeltalumpgrowinmythroat. UmbopastoodcontemplatingthehugedeadelephantandthemangledremainsofpoorKhiva.
