           Wepressedinafterhim,forgetfulforthemomentofthebagofdiamonds,andfoundourselvesinKingSolomon’streasurechamber. 

           Atfirst,allthatthesomewhatfaintlightgivenbythelamprevealedwasaroomhewnoutofthelivingrock,andapparentlynotmorethantenfeetsquare. Nexttherecameintosight,storedoneontheothertothearchoftheroof,asplendidcollectionofelephant-tusks. Howmanyofthemtherewerewedidnotknow,forofcoursewecouldnotseetowhatdepththeywentback,buttherecouldnothavebeenlessthantheendsoffourorfivehundredtusksofthefirstqualityvisibletooureyes. There,alone,wasenoughivorytomakeamanwealthyforlife.
