           Thentherewasawildyelpofagonyandthepoodlewentsailinguptheaisle; theyelpscontinued,andsodidthedog;hecrossedthehouseinfrontofthealtar; heflewdowntheotheraisle; hecrossedbeforethedoors; heclamoredupthehome-stretch; hisanguishgrewwithhisprogress,tillpresentlyhewasbutawoollycometmovinginitsorbitwiththegleamandthespeedoflight. Atlastthefranticsufferersheeredfromitscourse,andsprangintoitsmaster’slap; heflungitoutofthewindow,andthevoiceofdistressquicklythinnedawayanddiedinthedistance.

           TomSawyerwenthomequitecheerful,thinkingtohimselfthattherewassomesatisfactionaboutdivineservicewhentherewasabitofvarietyinit. Hehadbutonemarringthought; hewaswillingthatthedogshouldplaywithhispinchbug,buthedidnotthinkitwasuprightinhimtocarryitoff.
