           Thisplansettled,ithadonlytobeputintoexecution.Theminersbecamebrickmakersagain,thenthebrickswerebroughttothefootofGraniteHouse.Tillthen,Hardingandhiscompanionshadonlyenteredthecavernbythelongpassage.ThismodeofcommunicationobligedthemfirsttoclimbProspectHeights,makingadetourbytheriver’sbank,andthentodescendtwohundredfeetthroughthepassage,havingtoclimbasfarwhentheywishedtoreturntotheplateau.Thiswasagreatlossoftime,andwasalsoveryfatiguing.
