           Afterhavingdescendedaboutahundredfeet,followingawindingroad,Hardingwhowaswalkingonbefore,stopped,andhiscompanionscameupwithhim.Theplacewheretheyhadhaltedwaswider,soastoformacavernofmoderatedimensions.Dropsofwaterfellfromthevault,butthatdidnotprovethattheyoozedthroughtherock.Theyweresimplythelasttracesleftbythetorrentwhichhadsolongthunderedthroughthiscavity,andtheairtherewaspurethoughslightlydamp,butproducingnomephiticexhalation.
