           CaptainHardinghadlistenedtothesailorwithoutsayingaword,buthiseyesshonewithsatisfaction.Herewasthelong-sought-foropportunityhewasnotamantoletitpass.Theplanwasfeasible,though,itmustbeconfessed,dangerousintheextreme.Inthenight,inspiteoftheirguards,theymightapproachtheballoon,slipintothecar,andthencutthecordswhichheldit.Therewasnodoubtthattheymightbekilled,butontheotherhandtheymightsucceed,andwithoutthisstorm!Withoutthisstormtheballoonwouldhavestartedalreadyandthelooked-foropportunitywouldnothavethenpresenteditself.
