Thatnightwepitchedourcampimmediatelyunderthecliff—amostwildanddesolatespot.Thecragsaboveuswerenotmerelyperpendicular,butcurvedoutwardsatthetop,sothatascentwasoutofthequestion.ClosetouswasthehighthinpinnacleofrockwhichIbelieveImentionedearlierinthisnarrative.Itislikeabroadredchurchspire,thetopofitbeinglevelwiththeplateau,butagreatchasmgapingbetween.Onthesummitofittheregrewonehightree.Bothpinnacleandcliffwerecomparativelylow—somefiveorsixhundredfeet,Ishouldthink.
