           Thenwithhisnephew,Hoel,KingoftheArmoricanBritons,whocamewithagreatforcetohelphim,KingArthur,withamightymultitudeofbarons,knights,andfightingmen,wentswiftlyuptoLincoln,whichtheSaxonslaybesieging.Andtherehefoughtapassingfiercebattle,andmadegrievousslaughter,killingabovesixthousandmen,tillthemainbodyofthemturnedandfled.ButhepursuedthemhotlyintothewoodofCelidon,where,shelteringthemselvesamongthetreesfromhisarrows,theymadeastand,andforalongseasonbravelydefendedthemselves.
