Itwasgivenoutthatthepasturewasexhaustedandneededre-seeding;butitsoonbecameknownthatNapoleonintendedtosowitwithbarley.
Aboutthistimethereoccurredastrangeincidentwhichhardlyanyonewasabletounderstand. Onenightatabouttwelveo’clocktherewasaloudcrashintheyard,andtheanimalsrushedoutoftheirstalls. ThedogsimmediatelymadearingroundSquealer,andescortedhimbacktothefarmhouseassoonashewasabletowalk.
