Latertherewouldalsobeneedforseedsandartificialmanures,besidesvarioustoolsand,finally,themachineryforthewindmill. Howtheseweretobeprocured,noonewasabletoimagine.
OneSundaymorning,whentheanimalsassembledtoreceivetheirorders,Napoleonannouncedthathehaddecideduponanewpolicy. FromnowonwardsAnimalFarmwouldengageintradewiththeneighbouringfarms:not,ofcourse,foranycommercialpurpose,butsimplyinordertoobtaincertainmaterialswhichwereurgentlynecessary.
