           "Butwecannottellhimthat,"saidDorothy,gravely,"becauseitwouldnotbetrue."

           "What!"exclaimedthezebra,inastonishment;"doIhearyouaright?"

           "Never,"admittedthezebra."ThereisnosuchthingasanoceanintheLandofOz."

           "Well,thereareseveraloceansintheworld,"saidDorothy,"andpeoplesailinshipsupontheseoceansforweeksandweeks,andneverseeabitoflandatall.Andthejoggerfyswilltellyouthatalltheoceansputtogetherarebiggerthanallthelandputtogether."

           AtthisthecrabbeganlaughinginqueerchucklesthatremindedDorothyofthewayBillinasometimescackled.

           "NOWwillyougiveup,Mr.Zebra?"itcried,jeeringly;"nowwillyougiveup?"

           Thezebraseemedmuchhumbled.
