           TheWizardtoldDorothythatshewasagoodcookandhebelievedtheirsupperwasready.

           SoUncleHenryliftedthekettlefromthefireandpoureditscontentsintoabigplatterwhichtheWizardheldforhim.Theplatterwasfairlyheapedwithafinestew,smokinghot,withmanykindsofvegetablesanddumplingsandarich,deliciousgravy.

           TheWizardtriumphantlyplacedtheplatteruponthetableinthediningtentandthentheyallsatdownincampchairstothefeast.

           Therewereseveralotherdishesonthetable,allcarefullycovered,andwhenthetimecametoremovethesecoverstheyfoundbreadandbutter,cakes,cheese,picklesandfruits--includingsomeofthelusciousstrawberriesofOz.

           Nooneventuredtoaskaquestionastohowthesethingscamethere.Theycontentedthemselvesbyeatingheartilythegoodthingsprovided,andTotoandBillinahadtheirfullshare,youmaybesure.Afterthemealwasover,AuntEmwhisperedtoDorothy:

           "Thatmayhavebeenmagicfood,mydear,andforthatreasonperhapsitwon’tbeverynourishing;butI’mwillingtosayittastedasgoodasanythingIeveret."Thensheadded,inaloudervoice:"Who’sgoingtodothedishes?"

           "Noone,madam,"answeredtheWizard."Thedisheshave’done’themselves."

           "Lasakes!"ejaculatedthegoodlady,holdingupherhandsinamazement.For,sureenough,whenshelookedatthedishestheyhadamomentbeforeleftuponthetable,shefoundthemallwashedanddriedandpiledupintoneatstacks.
