ButTotocouldn’t.Hewaggedhistail,andsneezed,andshookhisears,andtrottedbackwheretheyhadlefttheshaggyman.Fromherehestartedalonganotherroad;thencamebackandtriedanother;buteachtimehefoundthewaystrangeanddecideditwouldnottakethemtothefarm-house.Finally,whenDorothyhadbeguntotirewithchasingafterhim,Totosatdownpantingbesidetheshaggymanandgaveup.
