           Asforthecompanyoffoxesassembledtodinewiththestrangers,theyweremostbeautifullycostumed,andtheirrichdressesmadeDorothy’ssimplegownandButton-Bright’ssailorsuitandtheshaggyman’sshaggyclotheslookcommonplace.ButtheytreatedtheirguestswithgreatrespectandtheKing’sdinnerwasaverygooddinnerindeed.Foxes,asyouknow,arefondofchickenandotherfowl;sotheyservedchickensoupandroastedturkeyandstewedduckandfriedgrouseandbroiledquailandgoosepie,andasthecookingwasexcellenttheKing’sguestsenjoyedthemealandateheartilyofthevariousdishes.

           Thepartywenttothetheater,wheretheysawaplayactedbyfoxesdressedincostumesofbrilliantlycoloredfeathers.Theplaywasaboutafox-girlwhowasstolenbysomewickedwolvesandcarriedtotheircave;andjustastheywereabouttokillherandeatheracompanyoffox-soldiersmarchedup,savedthegirl,andputallthewickedwolvestodeath.
