           Whenallmembersofethecompanywereintheirplacesanorchestraoffivehundredpieces,inabalconyoverlookingthebanquetroom,begantoplaysweetanddelightfulmusic.Thenadoordrapedwithroyalgreenopened,andincamethefairandgirlishPrincessOzma,whonowgreetedherguestsinpersonforthefirsttime.

           AsshestoodbyherthroneattheheadofthebanquettableeveryeyewasturnedeagerlyuponthelovelyPrincess,whowasasdignifiedasshewasbewitching,andwhosmileduponallheroldandnewfriendsinawaythattouchedtheirheartsandbroughtanansweringsmiletoeveryface.

           Eachguesthadbeenservedwithacrystalgobletfilledwithlacasa,whichisasortofnectarfamousinOzandnicertodrinkthansoda-waterorlemonade.Santanowmadeaprettyspeechinverse,congratulatingOzmaonhavingabirthday,andaskingeveryonepresenttodrinktothehealthandhappinessoftheirdearlybelovedhostess.Thiswasdonewithgreatenthusiasmbythosewhoweremadesotheycoulddrinkatall,andthosewhocouldnotdrinkpolitelytouchedtherimsoftheirgobletstotheirlips.AllseatedthemselvesatthetablesandtheservantsofthePrincessbeganservingthefeast.
