"What’stobecomeofme?"askedthehorse,uneasily.Hehadseenconsiderableoflifeinthecitiesinhisyoungerdays,andknewthatthisregalpalacewasnoplaceforhim.
ItperplexedevenJelliaJamb,foratime,toknowwhattodowiththeanimal.Thegreenmaidenwasmuchastonishedatthesightofsounusualacreature,forhorseswereunknowninthisLand;butthosewholivedintheEmeraldCitywereapttobeastonishedbyqueersights,soafterinspectingthecab-horseandnotingthemildlookinhisbigeyesthegirldecidednottobeafraidofhim.
"Therearenostableshere,"saidtheWizard,"unlesssomehavebeenbuiltsinceIwentaway."
"Wehaveneverneededthembefore,"answeredJellia;"fortheSawhorselivesinaroomofthepalace,beingmuchsmallerandmorenaturalinappearancethanthisgreatbeastyouhavebroughtwithyou."
"DoyoumeanthatI’mafreak?"askedJim,angrily.

ThismollifiedJimalittle,andaftersomethoughtthegreenmaidendecidedtogivethecab-horsearoominthepalace,suchabigbuildinghavingmanyroomsthatwereseldominuse.
SoZebunharnessedJim,andseveraloftheservantsthenledthehorsearoundtotherear,wheretheyselectedanicelargeapartmentthathecouldhavealltohimself.
