           WhowastheOther?AngelewascarriedtoherhomeontheSeedranch,delirious,allbutraving,andVanamee,withknifeandrevolverready,rangedthecountry-sidelikeawolf.Hewasnotalone.Thewholecountyrose,raging,horror-struck.Posseafterpossewasformed,sentout,andreturned,withoutsomuchasaclue.Uponnoonecouldeventheshadowofsuspicionbethrown.TheOtherhadwithdrawnintoanimpenetrablemystery.Thereheremained.Heneverwasfound;heneverwassomuchasheardof.
