Itookafewofmyfriendsintothesecret,however,andtheysuggestedthatweshouldquietlyandsecretlyworkourownlittledepositandthatinthiswayweshouldearnthemoneywhichwouldenableustobuytheneighbouringfields. Thiswehavenowbeendoingforsometime,andinordertohelpusinouroperationsweerectedahydraulicpress. Thispress,asIhavealreadyexplained,hasgotoutoforder,andwewishyouradviceuponthesubject. Weguardoursecretveryjealously,however,andifitoncebecameknownthatwehadhydraulicengineerscomingtoourlittlehouse,itwouldsoonrouseinquiry,andthen,ifthefactscameout,itwouldbegood-byetoanychanceofgettingthesefieldsandcarryingoutourplans.
