"Itmeansthatitisallover,"Holmesanswered. "Andperhaps,afterall,itisforthebest. Takeyourpistol,andwewillenterDr.Roylott’sroom."

Acrosshislaplaytheshortstockwiththelonglashwhichwehadnoticedduringtheday. Hischinwascockedupwardandhiseyeswerefixedinadreadful,rigidstareatthecorneroftheceiling. Roundhisbrowhehadapeculiaryellowband,withbrownishspeckles,whichseemedtobeboundtightlyroundhishead. Asweenteredhemadeneithersoundnormotion.
"Theband!thespeckledband!"whisperedHolmes.
Itookastepforward. Inaninstanthisstrangeheadgearbegantomove,andtherereareditselffromamonghishairthesquatdiamond-shapedheadandpuffedneckofaloathsomeserpent.
