           “Angel,”whisperedFreckles,withhislipsagainstherhair,“youhaven’tlearnedyourhistorybookverywell,orelseyou’veforgotten.”

           “Forgottenwhat?”sobbedtheAngel.

           “Forgottenabouttherealknight,Ladybird,”breathedFreckles.“Don’tyouknowthat,ifanythinghappenedthatmadehisladysorry,arealknightjustsimplycouldn’tberememberingit?Angel,darlinglittleSwampAngel,youbelisteningtome.Therewasonenightonthetrail,onesolemn,grand,whitenight,thattherewasn’teveranyotherlikebeforeorsince,whenthedearBossputhisarmaroundmeandtoldmethathelovedme;butifyoucare,Angel,ifyoudon’twantitthatway,why,Iain’trememberingthatanyoneelseeverdid—notinmewholelife.
