Ifitfallsshortinweight—ifhehasnotperformedthefulltaskappointedhim,heknowsthathemustsuffer. Andifhehasexceededitbytenortwentypounds,inallprobabilityhismasterwillmeasurethenextday’staskaccordingly. So,whetherhehastoolittleortoomuch,hisapproachtothegin-houseisalwayswith,fearandtrembling. Mostfrequentlytheyhavetoolittle,andthereforeitistheyarenotanxioustoleavethefield. Afterweighing,followthewhippings;andthenthebasketsarecarriedtothecottonhouse,andtheircontentsstoredawaylikehay,allhandsbeingsentintotrampitdown.
