           “Hasn’ttha’gotgoodsense?”shesaidonce,whenMaryhadstoodwaitingforhertoputonherglovesforher.“OurSusanAnnistwiceassharpastheean’she’sonlyfouryear’old.Sometimestha’looksfairsoftinth’head.”

           Maryhadwornhercontraryscowlforanhourafterthat,butitmadeherthinkseveralentirelynewthings.

           ShestoodatthewindowforabouttenminutesthismorningafterMarthahadsweptupthehearthforthelasttimeandgonedownstairs.Shewasthinkingoverthenewideawhichhadcometoherwhensheheardofthelibrary.Shedidnotcareverymuchaboutthelibraryitself,becauseshehadreadveryfewbooks;buttohearofitbroughtbacktohermindthehundredroomswithcloseddoors.Shewonderediftheywereallreallylockedandwhatshewouldfindifshecouldgetintoanyofthem.Werethereahundredreally?Whyshouldn’tshegoandseehowmanydoorsshecouldcount?Itwouldbesomethingtodoonthismorningwhenshecouldnotgoout.
