           Dickoncurvedhiswidesmilingmouth.

           “It’saswickasyouorme,”hesaid;andMaryrememberedthatMarthahadtoldherthat“wick”meant“alive”or“lively.”

           Hekneltandwithhisknifecutthelifeless-lookingbranchthrough,notfarabovetheearth.
