           Istaredathim.Ihadnotsuspectedthisaspectofthematterbefore.Butitcametomeatonce—apositivecraving.“Yes,”Isaidwithemphasis.“Iamhungrytoo.”

           Istaredaboutmeinthevainhopeofrecognisingsomeknollorshrubthathadbeennearthesphere.Buteverywherewasaconfusingsameness,everywheretheaspiringbushes,thedistendingfungi,thedwindlingsnowbanks,steadilyandinevitablychanged.Thesunscorchedandstung,thefaintnessofanunaccountablehungermingledwithourinfiniteperplexity.
