           IheardCavorexclaimsharply,andperceivedthatoneofthefixedbayonetsofthescrubhadprickedhim.Hehesitated,hiseyessoughtamongtherocksaboutus.Asuddenblazeofpinkhadcreptuparaggedpillarofcrag.Itwasamostextraordinarypink,alividmagenta.

           “Look!”saidI,turning,andbeholdCavorhadvanished.

           ForaninstantIstoodtransfixed.
