“Therestoftheheadisdistendedintoahugeglobeandthechitinousleatherycuticleofthemooncalfherdsthinsouttoameremembrane,throughwhichthepulsatingbrainmovementsaredistinctlyvisible.Heisacreature,indeed,withatremendouslyhypertrophiedbrain,andwiththerestofhisorganismbothrelativelyandabsolutelydwarfed.”
InanotherpassageCavorcomparesthebackviewofhimtoAtlassupportingtheworld.Tsi-puffitseemswasaverysimilarinsect,buthis“face”wasdrawnouttoaconsiderablelength,andthebrainhypertrophybeingindifferentregions,hisheadwasnotroundbutpear-shaped,withthestalkdownward.Therewerealsolitter-carriers,lopsidedbeings,withenormousshoulders,veryspideryushers,andasquatfootattendantinCavor’sretinue.
ThemannerinwhichPhi-ooandTsi-puffattackedtheproblemofspeechwasfairlyobvious.
